Dough Pizza

Dough

Our first dinner out as a family and we had heard many good things about a new pizzeria in Northbridge called Dough so off we went to check it out.

Set up by the same owners as Mela Indian next door, they hired Vincenzo, a Neapolitan chef hailing from a family of pizza chefs who is pretty much genetically programmed to make amazing pizzas.

The interior is simplistic with modern wooden tables and chairs and is warmly decorated with Italian movie posters, exposed brick, black and white images of the mother country and upside down potted plants hanging from the ceiling.

With a separate main dining area for diners and waiting area for takeaway pickups, you can actually watch the chef in the midst of making the pizzas from the front of the pizzeria. When we got there which was around 6.00, there were a couple of tables occupied already and when we left, it was packed! So make sure you book if you have a large group or to guarantee yourself a table.

You won’t find any thick crusts pizzas or stuff crusts ones too. It’s back to basics here with thin crusts pizzas and a focus on rich and simple ingredients. On their menu, you’ll find the classics like arancini, calamari, antipasto, margarita and Portofino pizzas.

We decided to order the antipasto to start and share, it’s been a long time since I had antipasto too. There were 2 types of salami, prosciutto (which I thought was the best one, salty and delicious), ham, toasted ciabatta and chargrilled capsicum.

For our pizza, we shared the diavola pizza which was mozzarella, hot salami, chargrilled capsicum and olives. The pizza was great! No, it was a damn good pizza! It was perfectly cooked crust and great flavours!

It is so refreshing to have another pizzeria that does great pizzas. We hope that they keep up their game. The wait staff were attentive and we didn’t have to wait long for our meal too. The meal cost us around $55 which is reasonable for good pizzas and great service. By the way, it is BYO and you don’t have to pay for corkage too.

On the whole, 9 ½ for food quality, 9 ½ for atmosphere, 9 for pricing and 9 ½ for service.
