Someone said to me the other day that I should do some reviews on the places where you can high tea in Perth. Hence, my first high tea review and I took my mum along for the ride.
Situated in the beautiful Swan Valley, The Vines Resort & Country Club was first established in 2 separate developments with the golf course being completed first. Both courses were designed by Course architects Graham Marsh and Ross Watson and continually feature in the Top 20 Resort Courses every year. The resort was built later in 1996 which has 103 resort rooms and 54 condominiums along with the restaurants, bars and abundance of resort facilities.
The Vines Resort & Country Club is located within the Swan Valley in Perth Western Australia. The Swan Valley in Western Australia, only 20 minutes from the centre of Perth, is Western Australia’s oldest wine growing region.
Muscat’s restaurant has added high tea to its menu which only commenced about 6 months ago. Served only on weekends from 2-5pm and overlooks the resort’s swimming pool. When we arrived, we were shocked that we were the only ones there having high tea. We were greeted by friendly staff and were ushered to your table. The teaware is standard white hotel issue. The tables were dressed with white linen and butchers paper tops were lifted with a small vase of fresh roses.
Not too long later, a 3 tier high tea selection arrived on our table and boy, it was a such generous selection. One of those tiers was freshly baked scones with jam and this beautiful silky vanilla cream. The scones were light and fluffy serves with their homemade strawberry jam.
Another tier had open crostini sandwiches with a variety of toppings – smoked salmon with brie, mushroom with aioli, salami with caramelised onions and bocconcini and tuna with cucumber slices. The lightly toasted bases some of which were grains and wholemeal gave a good contrast to the tasty fillings.
The last tier had a selection of dainty cakes and petite fours which were chocolate éclairs, vanilla cheesecake, macaroons and fruit tarts. All freshly made on the day especially the cheesecake which was silky smooth, absolutely divine and they were all beautifully presented on the plate.
The tea selection has blooming teas or loose tea options. Mum and I ordered the blooming teas, mine was the midnight lily and mum’s was the chrysanthemum. The clear teapots shows the pretty flowers as they steep and open.
We had such a wonderful time while we chatted, eating our meal in the peace and quiet. The cost per person for the high tea was $25 ($30 if you would like a glass of bubbly) which I thought was such a good price seeing that we couldn’t even finish our meal. We even had some leftovers to take away for John. So you want to book high tea for a birthday or a hen’s day, it’s a great spot and good value as well. I was told by the wait staff that they are much busier on a Sunday than the Saturday so bear that in mind when you are booking. Or even better, Head to the Swan Valley with the boys and leaving them to play golf while the girls enjoy high tea with a glass of bubbly.
On the whole, 8 ½ for the food quality, 8 ½ for the atmosphere, 9 for pricing and 8 ½ for service.
